Job summary

Purdue University Northwest—Westville Campus is seeking a Library Student Assistant to staff the Public Services Desk. You will assist students, faculty, staff, and community borrowers with equipment, directions, and locating resources.

As an undergraduate enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, you will help with check-in/check-out, holds, and basic research. Evening and weekend shifts are available, and training will be provided to use PurdueBorrow and library systems.

Qualifications

• Must be a current PNW undergraduate student.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
• Submit Fall 2026 class schedule for consideration.
• Evenings and weekends availability.
• Proactive customer service and basic tech support skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact at the library front desk.
• Assist with check-in/check-out of library materials.
• Help users place holds and navigate library systems (including PurdueBorrow).
• Provide basic research assistance and directional support.
• Explain and apply library policies and procedures.
• Open and close the library as scheduled, including independent shifts.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
• Perform daily checks of library computers and equipment.
• Shelve, shift, and organize library materials.
• Troubleshoot basic issues with computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, microform machines.
