Job summary

Olsson in Oklahoma City is seeking a Summer 2027 Student Intern for our Construction Materials Testing team. You will work in our geotechnical lab, perform testing, and help prepare reports on soils, asphalt, aggregates, and concrete.

You may assist project managers and gain exposure to field testing, material verification, and construction observation on projects in varying terrains and weather. A valid driver's license and drive-time flexibility are required.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in construction management, construction administration, engineering, or related area of study.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team setting.
  • Attention to detail and reliability in field and lab tasks.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Willingness to work overtime during the summer as needed.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and work in varied weather and terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Work in our geotechnical lab performing testing and reporting on soils, asphalt, aggregates, and concrete.
  • Assist project managers in preparing geotechnical and construction materials testing reports.
  • Support field work including geotechnical testing and inspections as needed.
  • Adapt to working in different terrains and weather conditions on active projects.

Job Description

As a summer 2027 student intern with our Construction Materials Testing team, you will be working in our geotechnical lab performing various types of testing and reporting on common materials utilized in the construction of projects.

This internship will help you understand the impact that testing protocols and processes may have on a project.

You will work with soils, asphalt, aggregates, and concrete materials and gain an understanding of the processes behind the quality verification of materials required to construct projects.

You will also assist our construction and engineering project managers in putting together both geotechnical and construction materials testing reports.

Opportunities for field work may be available to assist with geotechnical materials testing, construction observation, and inspections in different types of terrain and weather conditions, and on projects in various stages of construction.
