Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an entry-level, non-exempt team member for a 40-hour work week. The role emphasizes clerical tasks, basic data entry, and collaboration with caregivers and managers in a patient-focused environment.

Attainment requires current high school status, solid communication, and teamwork. Training and integration into the department will be provided, with a focus on reliability and professional conduct.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $15.00 - $21.16. Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule Details: Monday through Friday Scheduled Hours: 07-15 Shift: 4 - Mixed Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours: 40 Cost Center: 24050 - 1410 Flex Unit This position may have a signing bonus available a member of the Recruitment Team will confirm eligibility during the interview process.

Under direct supervision performs a variety of routine duties in accordance with specific instructions and established work procedures.

I. Major Responsibilities
  • Utilize and integrate school academics and curriculum with on the job training.
  • Participate in instrumental learning and observation.
  • Assist with departmental tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with department caregivers.
  • Communicate and follow up with co-workers, managers and/or patients.
  • Learn to work independently and as part of a team.
  • May use typewriters or personal computers to maintain or produce basic information in established formats, or to complete forms.
  • May performs various administrative duties including but not limited to filing, sorting, assembling, and distributing documents, mail and other written materials, faxing and duplicating documents.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
  • Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications
  • License/Certification/Education: Required: Current high school student.
  • Experience/Skills: Required: Basic communication, reading, writing, and math skills and the ability to utilize computers for basic data entry duties, clerical accuracy.
  • Experience/Skills: Required: Ability to follow instructions.
  • Experience/Skills: Required: Ability to work well with others.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies, including age-specific competencies and their measurements, will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office or patient care environment.
