InterVarsity Press is seeking a Student Intern in Alabama (Undergraduate Ministry) for a part-time assignment focused on learning the basics of campus ministry. The role is limited to currently enrolled students and emphasizes spiritual growth, leadership development, and evangelism on campus.

The position supports a mission-driven team, offers a flexible schedule, and provides exposure to ministry operations, reporting, and collaboration with campus partners.

Qualifications

• Must be a follower of Jesus Christ and affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement.
• Demonstrates campus ministry leadership qualities such as initiative, self-awareness, and teamwork.
• Develops in spiritual disciplines and in understanding Scripture.
• Ability to mentor students and engage with diverse campus communities.

Responsibilities

• Participate with the campus ministry team to cast spiritual vision and direction.
• Contribute to plans for spiritual growth and transformation on campus.
• Teach students to study and apply Scripture to daily life.
• Promote InterVarsity’s mission on campus and engage witness to diverse communities.
• Guide chapters in strategic thinking for campus witness.
• Model and encourage love for God’s people of every ethnicity and culture.
• Foster prayerful lifestyle among students, including those not yet following Jesus.
• Work with supervision from staff ministry trainer/director and assist with reporting.
• Represent InterVarsity to ministry partners and churches through prayer and dialogue.

Student Intern -- Alabama (Undergraduate Ministry) Work Location: Alabama Job Type: Part time To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position is focused on learning the basics of college campus ministry. This position is limited to students who are currently enrolled in a four-year or community college. Second year students and students enrolled at a community college may intern at a two-year/community college. Third year students and higher can work at a four-year or community college. Non-InterVarsity students who attend a Christian college must have third or fourth year standing.

GROWTH OBJECTIVES

• Develop in college campus ministry leadership
• Grow in spiritual understanding, biblical knowledge, ministry experience and skills, and mature as a disciple of Jesus Christ
• Develop daily spiritual disciplines
• Pursue spiritual relationships and involvement in a worshipping community
• Discern God’s call to ministry service with InterVarsity and its mission

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate and engage fully with the campus ministry team to cast spiritual vision and direction
• Contribute to the accomplishment of the campus ministry team’s plans for spiritual growth and transformation
• Teach students to love, study, and apply Scripture to their lives
• Promote the Mission on campus (to advance witnessing communities that are bolder, broader, and more ethnically diverse): Seek opportunities to proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ
• Learn to guide chapters (or assigned segments of a chapter) in the development of strategic thinking regarding witness to the university
• Learn to model and assist students and faculty in growing in their love for God's people of every ethnicity and culture
• Encourage a prayerful lifestyle in students, especially focusing on those who do not yet follow Jesus as Lord and Savior
• Engage positively with the supervision and training you receive from your staff ministry trainer and/or director
• Assist with reporting as assigned
• Serve as an ambassador of InterVarsity to individual ministry partners and churches, through prayer, discussion of ministry efforts, mission, and accomplishments
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• A developing passion for evangelism
• Demonstrates campus ministry leadership qualities such as initiative, self-awareness and cultural awareness, communication, professionalism, eagerness to learn, cross-cultural competence, teamwork, and relational maturity.

Pay Range: $31,320.00 - $41,772.00 per year Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual’s ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
