Qualifications

  • Experience in K-12 district settings preferred.
  • Mastery of Infinite Campus.
  • Strong SQL querying and data hygiene skills.
  • Experience with rostering tools (Clever/ClassLink).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Power Query, Pivot Tables).
  • Excellent problem-solving and data accuracy focus.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as SIS administrator and SME for the system.
  • Oversee updates, patches, and maintenance windows.
  • Configure security roles and access controls for data privacy.
  • Design and maintain standard and custom SQL/BI reports.
  • Support state and federal reporting (MARSS & Ed-Fi).
  • Manage data pipelines and integrations with third-party platforms.
  • Provide tier 2/3 user support and troubleshoot issues.

Lakeville Area Schools has a Student Information System (SIS) Systems Administrator position.

This position is a 261 day per year position.

Salary: $80,000 -$85,000 depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Student Information System (SIS) Systems Administrator manages, maintains, and optimizes the institution's core Student Information System. This role acts as the primary technical expert bridging IT and administrative workflows ensuring data integrity, seamless third-party integrations, compliance reporting, and user support across administration, enrollment, grading, and student records.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
System Administration, Configuration & Customization
  • Serve as the primary administrator and technical SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Oversee system updates, patches, bug fixes, module implementations, and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Configure user roles, security profiles, permissions, and field-level access control to ensure strict data privacy.
  • Monitor system uptime, performance, and database health to ensure operational availability.
Data Governance & Reporting
  • Maintain high data accuracy across student records, transcripts, schedules, attendance, and demographics.
  • Design, build, and maintain standard and custom SQL/BI reports
  • Support state, federal reporting processes and requirements (e.g. MARSS & Ed-Fi), ensuring compliance and timely submissions.
Integrations & Technical Support
  • Manage data pipelines and integrations (API, SFT, LTI) between the SIS and third-party platforms (e.g. Schoology).
  • Provide tier 2/3 technical support to schoolteachers, administrative staff, & district office staff
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, document root causes, and liaise with software vendors for escalation.
Process Improvement & Training
  • Partner with departments across the district to analyze existing workflows and automate manual data-entry processes.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), system documentation, and end-user guides.
  • Conduct onboarding and ongoing system training for staff, teachers, and administrators.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Specific training or job experience required before appointment):
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Education Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum of 23 years of experience in SIS administration, application or database management.
  • Prior experience working in a K-12 school district or educational service agency is highly preferred.
  • SIS: Mastery of Infinite Campus
  • Database proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL for querying, data hygiene, and dataset preparation.
  • K-12 Systems: Hands-on experience with major SIS platforms and rostering tools (Clever/ClassLink).
  • Data Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Power Query, Pivot Tables).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an eagle eye for data anomalies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a heavy emphasis on patience and customer service.
  • Keen ability to take an articulated business need and translate it into a solution leveraging people process & technology.
  • Ability to present complex data findings to a non-technical audience clearly and concisely.
  • Deep understanding of student privacy laws, specifically FERPA and COPPA.
Perferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a K-12 school district or educational service agency.
