Qualifications

• LPN license required; RN preferred.
• Experience with school nursing and FERPA/HIPAA.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and first aid for student illnesses and injuries.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records per FERPA/HIPAA.
• Monitor immunization compliance and health screenings as required by state law.
• Communicate with parents, physicians, school personnel, and community agencies about student health concerns.
• Provide health education to students, staff, and families on wellness, disease prevention, nutrition, and safety.
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care until EMS arrival.
• Participate in Section 504, IEP, and other student support teams when health impacts education.
• Identify and report suspected child abuse or neglect per state law.
• Monitor communicable diseases and infection prevention measures.
• Promote a healthy school environment through collaboration with staff and partners.
