Job summary

A community college in Everett, WA, seeks a Student Leader for the Publicity Services team. Job description

The Publicity Services team supports the promotion of Student LIFE programs, events, and campus engagement efforts through a variety of creative, public-facing, and promotional work. This includes areas such as graphic design, social media, photography, videography, event promotion, publicity support, and Trojan mascot appearances.

Title: Student Leader – Publicity Services

Salary: $20.77/hour

Hours: <=50 hours/month (Trojan Mascot); <=60 hours/month (Social Media & Publicity Intern); <=69 hours/month (Graphic Design Intern)

Dates of Employment: August 24, 2026 - June 2027 (position has a one year commitment)

Typical Work
Graphic Design Intern
  • Create posters, flyers, handbills, digital media, commencement materials, and more
  • Design & produce publications using Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Utilize camera equipment to assist in photographing events and activities sponsored by Student LIFE.
  • Represent, provide advice, and knowledge of Publicity Services and materials/equipment, to those requesting service.
  • Work cooperatively with the Trojan Activity Board, ASB Senate, Executive Council, student clubs, campus community, and printing services.
  • Collaborate within the Publicity Services team to design the weekly Student LIFE Weekly newsletter.
Social Media & Publicity Intern
  • Update and maintain Student LIFE’s social network profiles, and web calendar events.
  • Utilize camera equipment to photograph/video record events and activities sponsored by Student LIFE.
  • Assist with design, document preparation and proof reading/editing of publicity publications and copy on various promotional materials.
  • Represent, provide advice, and knowledge of Publicity Services and materials/equipment, to those requesting service.
  • Work cooperatively with the Trojan Activity Board, ASB Senate, Executive Council, student clubs, campus community, and printing services.
  • Collaborate within the Publicity Services team to design the weekly Student LIFE Weekly newsletter.
Trojan Mascot
  • Perform (anonymous) mascot duties during games, campus, and community events.
  • Maintain the mascot costume.
  • Serve as a representative of EvCC by making appearances at campus and community events to promote school spirit.
  • Assist in creating promotional/marketing materials through appearances, videography and photography.
  • Distribute EvCC promotional items designed to help increase school spirit and attendance at games and events.
  • While in character possess a highly energetic disposition, animated personality and approachability.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Publicity Services team staff meetings and required Student LIFE trainings.

Graphic Design Intern
  • Experience with or taking classes in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Currently enrolled in the Arts Pathway
  • Enrollment in a degree/certificate program in Visual Communications is preferred but not required
Social Media & Publicity Intern
  • Introductory knowledge of Adobe photo editing software
  • Ability to use a DSLR camera, video camera, and editing software
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, printers, and telecommunication devices
  • Ability to observe, analyze, and interpret data from various sources
  • Ability to exchange information on the phone, through video conferencing, or in person
  • Ability to stand, run, and walk for extended periods, including indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to work in fast-paced or crowded environments
  • Must be able to lift, pull, push and/or carry 50 pounds as necessary.
  • Ability to stand, sit, run and walk for up to 4 hours with breaks.
  • Ability to work in various settings and weather conditions to include heat, cold and rain.
Terms of Employment
  • Temporary position, not to exceed 16 hours/week or 69 hours/month
  • Days and times vary by assignment
  • Overtime eligible; FLSA non-exempt
  • Position is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures
