Job summary

The University of Georgia's vegetable entomology research laboratory seeks a Student Assistant to support ongoing projects studying how pests affect vegetable productivity in Georgia. You will help maintain insect colonies, collect and process samples, and enter data.

Responsibilities include rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope, maintaining plant food for colonies, planting seeds, scouting fields, and assisting with routine lab tasks during weekly meetings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with insect colonies, plant seeds/seedlings, and perform other duties related to entomological research.
• When samples (either frozen or in alcohol) are collected and stored, they must be processed on a scheduled weekly basis.
• Colonies and the plants supporting these colonies need to be checked twice weekly.
