Job summary

Kellogg Center in East Lansing, MI is seeking a Student Cook for the Kellogg Center State Room. Wage is $17.00 per hour with shifts covering breakfast (7:00 AM–11:00 AM) and lunch (11:00 AM–3:00 PM).

You will assist full-time staff with food prep, cooking and plating, and ensure safe food handling per regulations. As a student employee, you must be enrolled at Michigan State University and available to work varied shifts, including weekends and events.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year).
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
• Must be able to work between breakfast 7 am to 11 am or lunch 11 am to 3 pm.

Responsibilities

• Cook, prepare and plate food at the Kellogg Center State Room restaurant.
• Assist with kitchen cleanup after meals.
• Communicate with supervisors, managers and other student team members.
• Coordinate with the supervisor’s tasks for each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
