Job summary

Karnes City ISD is seeking a dedicated special education teacher to provide targeted learning activities and growth opportunities for students with diverse needs. You will develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons aligned with each student’s IEP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignment.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation.
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience in student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs with written prep evidence.
• Assess student learning styles and plan appropriate strategies and materials.
• Present subject matter per IEP guidelines using varied instructional techniques and media.
• Assist regular class activities by modifying curricula for special education students.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional media.
• Establish open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain professional relationships and participate in staff development.
