Job summary

Concord Community Schools is seeking a Building Substitute to cover absences in Concord High School. The role supports teachers and paraprofessionals, assists administration, and helps maintain a safe, orderly learning environment.

The Building Substitute will fill in for teachers and paraprofessionals as needed and may be utilized throughout the building. A high school diploma and a student-centered attitude are required, along with reliability and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Recognize the basic dignities of students, parents and families, colleagues, and subordinates.
• Exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students.
• Monitor students during assigned periods to maintain a quiet, safe and positive learning environment.
• Implement strategies for reinforcing material based on individual student needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by classroom teachers.
• Implement prompting strategies to develop students’ independence.
• Maintain confidential data bases and records for program facilitation.
• Administer classroom activities and tasks to support teachers.
• Maintain accountability records for student activities during class time.
• Promote good study habits to improve student outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
