Job summary

Colorado Mesa University is seeking energetic Peer Mentors for Alumni & Career Services. You will guide students through resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews, while mentoring their professional goals.

The role supports events, workshops, and career fairs, with an emphasis on confidentiality and customer service. This paid position requires a year-long commitment, the ability to work independently, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Have an interest in helping other college students.
• Demonstrate excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication.
• Be able to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems.
• Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Be outgoing and energetic and have excellent customer service skills (in person and over the phone).
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students one-on-one to revise resumes and cover letters, and facilitate mock interviews.
• Mentor students about their professional and academic goals.
• Assist with compiling application materials for employment.
• Accurately track and enter student appointment data in Handshake.
• Promote Career Services resources through creative outreach (tabling, classroom presentations).
• Prepare paperwork for student appointments and assist with events.
