UPMC McKeesport Hospital is seeking a Student Behavioral Associate to support our Behavioral Health Units with casual hours. If you are a current full-time student, this is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working on the front lines of Life Changing Medicine.

The role provides exposure to behavioral and mental health patients and involves assisting in care delivery, documentation, and teamwork within the unit. Minimum of 8 hours in a 2-week period is required.

Qualifications

• Current full-time student seeking practical experience in your field.
• Able to commit to casual shifts and meet minimum hour requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists the nurse and direct care staff in physical care and clinical intervention as needed.
• Learns and uses up-to-date technology and practices in patient care.
• Encourages patients with activities of daily living.
• Documents in the medical record per policies.
• Maintains unit environment and safety.
• Assists in crisis management using positive approaches.
• Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and in-services.
• Maintains communication with treatment team and nurse regarding patient observations.
