The Automotive/Collision Technology department is seeking Auto-Tech student interns. This internship offers practical and hands‑on experience in the field while reinforcing skills and knowledge gained in the classroom. If you are ready to join the City of Chicago’s Fleet & Facility Management (2FM) team, this internship is for you!

Responsibilities

The Automotive Technology Internship requires students to complete 135 hours at an approved facility (17‑20 hours weekly), attend a one‑hour and 40‑minute weekly seminar class, and complete all site and class‑related assignments.

You Must Have the Following

• A 2.0 GPA or higher (Automotive Chairperson or Dean approval).
• Do Not share the City of Chicago’s (2FM) confidential forms.
• A complete Automotive Cooperative Learning Experience application.
• Attend a mandatory orientation.
• Completion of all required coursework (Approved by Automotive Chairperson or Dean)
• Participate in a criminal background check (2FM Requirement).
• Participate in the City of Chicago’s indebtedness check (2FM Requirement).
• Participate in the City of Chicago’s child support status check (2FM Requirement).
• Availability of 17‑20 hours per week to complete the required cooperative learning experience in a (2FM) approved facility.
• Availability is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis.

Qualification

• Currently enrolled as a full‑time or part‑time student at Kennedy‑King College.
• Willingness to learn and ability to work collaboratively with the (2FM) team.

The salary for this position is $17 per hour. The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
