Job Summary

Work 10-12 hours per week building scenery and props for a four-show season of plays and musicalS. Must not be afraid of power tools, climbing ladders, getting dirty, or physical work. Must follow and enforce all safety protocols in the theatre scene shop. Must be able to take direction from the staff Technical Director and collaborate with fellow workers.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours of coursework in the semester.
  • Must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License
  • Must have personal qualities of responsibility, integrity, patience, commitment, and be a strong and clear communicator.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and well with others.
  • Ability to follow deadlines.
  • Some knowledge of power and hand tools.
  • Good math skills to determine area, angles, etc. for carpentry.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Position involves building and working with wood and steel. Student Assistants will be on their feet during their shifts.
  • May involve moving/lifting 50 lbs or more.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Taken and passed THEA 2290: Stage and Film Craft.
  • Ability to take initiative to lead students in building projects.
  • Preference will be given to theatre majors.
  • Positive and friendly attitude.
  • Carpentry skills in building flats, platforms, boxes.
  • Welding skills.
