Job Summary
Supplemental Instruction Leaders are student leaders who support classmates by facilitating peer study sessions for specific courses. SI Leaders are not teaching assistants; they do not conduct tutorial classes and report to the Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction.
Responsibilities
- Attend the class that you lead.
- Conduct 2–3 SI sessions per week.
- Hold at least one office hour per week.
- Plan SI sessions in advance.
- Attend two trainings per month.
Required Qualifications
- Current University of West Georgia student enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, or faculty referral for the specific SI course/subject.
- Earned an A grade in the course.
- Successfully complete a background check.
- Availability for a full two‑day in‑person training before the semester begins.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong faculty recommendation.
- Demonstrated academic skill, leadership, character, and effective communication.
- Positive perspective of the University of West Georgia.

- List of course(s) for which you intend to provide SI.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of the subject material and ability to convey it to peers.
