Job summary

ESS is seeking a Substitute Aide/Paraprofessional in Schuylkill Haven, PA. This role supports classroom teachers, assists with student needs, and helps with supervision during various school activities.

The position pays $12.50 per hour and offers flexible scheduling within the school day. Responsibilities include reinforcing instruction, assisting with classroom management, preparing materials, and supporting students with special needs under IEP/504 plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• PA Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification is required.
• PA State Police Criminal History Clearance is required.
• Federal Criminal History Clearance is required.
• Child Abuse Clearance is required.
• Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release is required.
• Tuberculosis Test/Physical is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups.
• Assist teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class.
• Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials.
• Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs.
• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
• Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans.
• Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.

Substitute Aide

An ESSsubstitute aideassists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The substitute paraprofessional job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.

Substitute aides are also known as school aides, teacher assistants, instructional aides, one-to-one aides, and personal care assistants.
