Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for a Structures Superintendent to join our team for a Construction Project in Norfolk, Virginia.

Project Overview
  • Project: tunnel/ highway/bridge/structure
  • Estimated duration of the position: 1 year – In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.
  • Summary: Lead and oversee all structural construction activities, including cast‑in‑place concrete works, rebar installation, formwork systems, structural steel, and marine or heavy‑civil structures. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of structural works.
Responsibilities
  • Crew Supervision: Direct daily activities of foremen, carpenters, laborers, rebar crews, and subcontractors to maintain productivity and safe work practices.
  • Production & Performance: Monitor progress against production targets, identify constraints, and implement corrective actions to maintain or improve output.
  • Safety Leadership: Enforce site safety standards, conduct toolbox talks, ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Field Engineering Coordination: Work closely with field engineers to interpret drawings, resolve technical issues, verify dimensions, and ensure constructability.
  • Schedule Compliance: Plan and sequence structural works to meet project milestones, coordinate with other disciplines, and mitigate delays.
  • Quality Control Execution: Oversee inspections, ensure adherence to specifications, review formwork and reinforcement installations, and verify concrete placement quality.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 10 hours, Day or Night Shifts (with 1 hour for lunch break) – There is the possibility of working some Saturdays.
