Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full Time Structures Representative in the Antioch, CA area to provide technical leadership on complex construction projects. The role involves QA over contractor work on structures and related admin tasks across multiple offices in the region.

The candidate will inspect plans, manage field issues, coordinate meetings, and perform constructability reviews while maintaining safety and compliance with WSP policies.

Qualifications

• BSCE or related degree required.
• Current California PE license required.
• Minimum 12 years of experience, with at least 5 years as Structures Representative.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
• Valid California driver's license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to uphold safety policies and pass motor vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and inspecting plans and calculations for falsework, shoring, staging, bridge removal, and other technical submissions.
• Respond to and resolve field construction issues effectively.
• Conduct meetings between contractor, owner, utilities and other project parties.
• Inspect, document, and coordinate field tests of construction materials.
• Analyze construction costs of changed conditions, draft change orders, and recommend dispositions.
• Prepare constructability reviews and reports.
• Assume responsibility for field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control.
• Supervise field inspection and field office personnel.
• Represent projects at meetings and conferences.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

WSP is currently initiating a search for aFull Time Structures Representativefor ourAntioch, Californiaoffice.Be involved in projects with ourPMCM Teamand be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.The position can be located within the San Francisco Bay Area, greater Sacramento area, or the Central Valley.

The Structures Representative provides technical leadership for complex construction management projects or programs, serving as a Structures Representative supervising construction engineering and inspection activities. This person must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently making decisions on significant construction engineering problems. Elements to be inspected or monitored may include falsework, pile driving, cofferdams, cast-in-place concrete, waterproofing, structural steel, bearings, expansion joints, precast concrete elements, maintenance or traffic and other similar activities.

This is NOT a Structural Design Engineer role. A Structures Representative is a local agency employee (or a consultant hired by a local agency) who performs quality assurance over the contractor’s work that involves structures and who performs the contract’s necessary structure-related administrative tasks.

WSP has offices in Antioch, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Roseville, and Stockton. Projects may span multiple disciplines, such as roadway/highway and transit/rail construction.

Your Impact

• Reviewing and inspecting plans and calculations for: falsework; shoring; staging; bridge removal; and other technical submissions, on City, County, Caltrans and other State projects
• Responding to and effectively resolving field construction issues
• Conducting meetings between contractor, owner, utilities and other project parties
• Inspecting, documenting, and coordinating field test of construction materials
• Analyzing construction costs of changed conditions, drafting change orders, and recommending claims dispositions
• Preparing constructability reviews and reports
• Assumes responsibility for field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
• Supervises field inspection and field office personnel
• Represents projects at meetings and conferences
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• BSCE or related Degree
• Current California PE license
• Minimum of 12 years of experience, 5 of which are as a Structures Representative
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and material
• Valid CA driver's license
• Solid written and verbal skills
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Expected Salary: $167,800 - $249,150

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
