Job summary

AAR Corp is seeking a Structures Mechanic to inspect, overhaul, repair, modify and troubleshoot airframe parts. You will work under supervision on non-complex jobs and with more complex tasks under direct supervision, using approved data and drawings.

You will follow safety protocols, attach part tags, perform tasks within estimated hours, and liaise with Aircraft Engineers, maintenance supervisors and other teams for efficient repair solutions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Airframe certificate, Repairman certificate or 18 months of on-the-job training.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English language.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, overhaul, repair, modify and troubleshoot airframe parts.
  • Communicate with Aircraft Engineers to develop repair solutions and modifications.
  • Accomplish basic SRM repairs and assist qualified mechanics with complex jobs.
  • Work independently on small tasks and follow technical drawings and instructions.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization in hangar/workshop and operate GSE equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork and coordinate with management and other departments.

Description:

The Structures Mechanic has the responsibility to inspect, overhaul, repair, modify and troubleshoot airframe parts. The Mechanic will repair, restore and modify airframe structure in accordance with approved data and drawings. The Structures Mechanic is responsible to perform work within estimated time and within HAECO, FAA and customer standards of quality.

What you will be responsible for:
  • Effectively communicate with and assist Aircraft Engineers in developing repair solutions and modifications for transport aircraft.
  • Accomplish non-complex jobs with moderate supervision and more complex jobs under direct supervision.
  • Accomplish basic standard SRM repairs.
  • Assist qualified mechanic with more complex repairs.
  • Able to work independently on small tasks as assigned.
  • Inspect, overhaul, repair, modify and troubleshoot airframe parts.
  • Refers to technical drawings and written instructions to accomplish specific tasks as needed.
  • Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. This also applies to the usage/operation of GSE equipment.
  • Responsible for attaching parts tags to repairable, serviceable, or condemned parts.
  • Perform work within estimated hours.
  • Execute all required paperwork in connection with assigned normal duties.
  • Interface effectively with members of management, other departments and coworkers.
  • Perform other work as instructed by the Structures Lead Mechanic or Maintenance Supervisor.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Airframe certificate, Repairman certificate or eighteen (18) months of on-the-job training
  • Skill Rating 1
  • Must provide own tools as required on company tool list.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English language.
  • Must be able to read and understand structural repair manual and basic technical data.
  • Understanding of corrosion removal best practices.
  • Basic knowledge of safety equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of precision measurement tooling and use of relevant hand tools.
Physical Requirements:
  • A normal range of pulmonary functions tests are required and physiological determination of the ability to wear a respirator and other safety equipment as necessary.

Note: Employees with facial hair will be required to purchase a hood to meet respirator requirements.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Subject to noise in excess of 85 dB
  • Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders and/or service stands.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and requires the use of all safety equipment.
  • Must participate in DOT’s random drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Normal or corrected hearing.
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected.
