Job summary

Qualifications

Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Structures Mechanic preforms modification as approved by locating, drilling and installation of structure components using close tolerance tools and measurements as depicted in engineering drawings within the aircraft. Performs repairs following approved data to structural components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Required to be able to read complex schematics/blueprints, engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  • Perform layout work; measure parts using micrometers, calipers and ball gauges (to accurately measure holes to .0001 inch); undertake bending and forming of sheet metal in preparation for assembly.
  • Able to use complex fixtures, bushings, core drills and reamers to generate holes for close tolerance Hi lock and fasteners.
  • Perform high quality work in accordance with the data/instructions provided by the Project Manager and/or Lead.
  • Estimates material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform job.
  • Ensure work performed adheres to high quality standards.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communications, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
  • Works well as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring that fabrication and installation functions are completed in accordance with all applicable Company policies and procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of installation and fabrication experience with hands on experience in working with sheet metal and structure installs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed Aircraft Structures Mechanic with a minimum of 3 - 5 years working experience.
  • Additional related education and/or training.
  • Aviation industry experience.
