Job summary

GE Aerospace is offering an internship/co-op as a Structures Intern/Co-op to support production and NPI teams. You will work with flight hardware in the repair sector of CES, gaining exposure to machining, inspection, and repair processes.

You will contribute to process improvements, perform data analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Relocation/housing assistance available; position requires on-site work in Springdale, OH.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Willingness to work at the Aircraft Component Service Center (ACSC) in Springdale, OH.
  • Reliable transportation, as many sites do not have public transportation available.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Responsibilities

  • Support repair engineering and shop operations for rotating engine components, including activities related to inspection repair development, process execution, and documentation.
  • Assist with technical evaluations of hardware and help compile repair recommendations, dispositions, and support records.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of machine and process issues, partnering with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of machines and process data to identify trends, gaps versus requirements, and opportunities for improvement.

Job Summary

Help invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely as a GE Aerospace intern/co-op! As the Structures Intern/Co-op you will support operations of our production and new product implementation (NPI) teams. Our hands-on environment allows you to work closely with flight hardware in the repair sector of Commercial Engines and Services (CES). While embedded in our team you will gain exposure to various traditional and non-traditional machining processes, advanced inspection methods, and will see the repair process firsthand.

Eligibility Requirements

Desired characteristics
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, or process documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in student organization, team projects, or extracurricular activities.
  • Exposure to CAD tools (e.g. NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Familiarity with statistics or design of experiments is a plus.

  • Pay rates for this position begin at $20/hour and increase for each undergraduate year completed. Relocation support and housing assistance is available for those who relocate to a new city.
