Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a turbomachinery structures engineer to join the turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. You’ll analyze rotating components for structural margin and life, quantify deflection and growth in operation, and partner with cross-functional teams to define manufacturable, high-efficiency, robust designs.

As an early hire, you’ll directly influence system architecture decisions and help build a scalable energy technology from the ground up, with equity

Qualifications

• Must have structural analysis experience on rotating components.
• Experience with high-speed rotating equipment in turbines or turbomachinery.
• Proficiency with commercial FEA tools (Ansys, Nastran, Abaqus).

As part of the Engineering organization, Power Con v ers ion develops the technologies that efficiently transform reactor-generated heat into usable electrical power . The team focuses on maximizing system performance, reliability, and commercial viability.

The Role

Valar Atomics is seeking aturbomachinerystructuresengineer to join the turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. In this role,you’llbe responsible oanalyzingrotating componentsfor Valar’s power generation turbomachinery.You’llbe working withcross-functionalteam members to define a manufacturable,high efficiency, robust design.As an early hire in turbomachinery, you will be able to directly influence design decisions on the system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with cross functional partners to define required clearances

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanicalor AerospaceEngineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience conductingstructural analysis of rotating components
• Experience with commercial FEA codes such as Ansys, Nastran, Abaqus
• Experience withhigh speedrotating equipment in gas turbines, steam turbines, blowers, turboexpanders, turbopumps, etc.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Master's degree in Mechanicalor AerospaceEngineering
• Experience with materialselectionof creep resistant alloys
• Knowledge of casting or forging processes
• Experience with supercritical C02
