Job description

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full‑time Airframe Structures Design Engineer for the Advanced Development Programs (ADP) in Palmdale, California. A successful candidate will apply technical expertise in developing solutions to aircraft structural design problems.

Responsibilities
  • Creation and/or modification of primary and secondary structural parts, assemblies, installations, and interface control models/documents.
  • Contributing to developing, testing, and validating aircraft structural designs.
  • Assisting in creating system requirements, trade studies, statements of work, and test plans.
  • Coordination with internal Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), with some interaction with external IPTs and suppliers.

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. The position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering technical discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical; equivalent experience/combined education considered.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 or equivalent 3‑D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool.
  • Experience with structural design.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Desired Skills
  • Experience with 3DX or CATIA V5.
  • Experience with metallic and composite structural design.
  • Experience with composite edge manufacturing.
  • Experience with structural analysis for preliminary sizing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Security Clearance

This position requires a government security clearance and will be granted only to US Citizens.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100–$123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the candidate's final work location. The salary information is a general guideline only.
