A financial services firm is adding an attorney to its New York legal department to support its credit and structured products businesses. This is a newly created position on a small legal team, reporting to a senior in-house lawyer.
This role involves: 1) Structured Finance: Support for warehouse lending, asset-based facilities, and securitization matters, including review of transaction documents and legal opinions across several asset classes. There is also a general in-house component: monitoring regulatory developments affecting the platform, managing outside counsel and legal spend, and handling confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, and related matters.
2) Distressed Debt; Documentation for secondary loan trading in distressed situations. Credit agreements, security agreements, and intercreditor arrangements under both U.S. and European market standards, along with documentation for less conventional transactions.
You will work directly with the business rather than through layers, which means early ownership of substantive workstreams and regular contact with the people generating the transactions.
Base salary of $200,000 to $225,000 depending on experience. The role is bonus eligible. Comprehensive benefits. Three days per week in office.
