Job summary

Engineering Consulting Firm in California seeks a Design Engineer for Low Voltage, Telecom, and Structured Cabling on commercial and industrial projects. Full-time direct hire; salary around $100-125k plus bonus.

You will design and document voice/data/structured cabling, CCTV, access control, and related systems, coordinating with clients, architects, and other disciplines. Experience with renovations/tenant improvements is a plus; familiarity with NEC/IEEE and industry standards is expected,

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical and communications design for commercial/industrial buildings.
• Recent consulting design experience for low voltage systems in facilities.
• Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat divisions 27 and 28.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD and able to perform design work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage low voltage and multi-discipline projects to meet client needs and budgets.
• Prepare low-voltage designs for structured cabling, access control, CCTV and data networks.
• Coordinate system scope, layouts, and drawings with clients and other disciplines.
• Prepare technical specifications and oversee construction phases and field issue resolution.
• Ensure schedules, budgets, and resources are coordinated from inception to final transition.

Design Engineer (Low Voltage, Telecom, Structured Cabling)

Full Time Direct Hire

Salary is ~$100-125k + bonus

Required:

• Electrical and communications design/engineering experience on commercial and industrial multi-use buildings
• Recent experience working for a consulting engineer or engineer/architectural firm designing Low Voltage systems for facilities/buildings
• Divisions 27 and 28 of the CSI MasterFormat
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD design software, and ability to do own design engineering work

Nice to Have:

• Experience with both new builds and existing building renovations and tenant improvements.
• RCDD Preferred; OSP and NTS a plus
• Design-build experience
• Project Management

Summary/Responsibilities:

Effectively manage Low Voltage (Structural Cabling, AV, Security, and other low voltage systems) and multi-discipline projects by satisfying clients' needs and meeting budget expectations and project schedules. Interact with facility and major business clients to identify their requirements, define project scope, and prepare project proposals. Prepare to build low-voltage engineering designs for Structured Cabling, Access Control Systems, CCTV, Voice and data systems, communications room layout, and building infrastructure for low-voltage systems. Provide support during construction phases and be a quick thinker to solve potential issues and obstacles in the field.

• Use client directives and site-specific design criteria and apply engineering principles and skills to prepare the design of low-voltage and telecommunications systems, equipment, components, and products for commercial and industrial purposes and assist in developing bid and contract documents.
• Design and produce plans and documents, including voice, data, structured cabling (horizontal and vertical), audio-visual, security, access control, intrusion detection, and other low-voltage systems, including inside and outside the plant.
• Coordinate system scope, design layout, and drawings with clients and other disciplines.
• Perform telecommunications and low-voltage systems analysis and develop appropriate system concepts, layouts, and details.
• Oversee projects from inception through final transition and coordinate with senior management, clients, and subcontractors, ensuring the schedules are met and resources remain in check.
• Prepare technical specifications.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards, and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of low voltage and telecommunications systems.
• This position may also entail working with engineers preparing schedules, budgets, and status reports.
• Prepare layout prints for supervisor or client
