Scorpion Therapeutics in Boston seeks a Research Scientist focused on AI-enabled drug discovery and structure-guided small-molecule design. You will develop DL models across the molecular modeling stack and translate validated models into production-ready workflows.

The role emphasizes collaboration with ML engineers, biologists, and software engineers, with a strong focus on publishing results and advancing structure-based design through innovative AI methods.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology/Biophysics/CS/Computational Chemistry with ML focus in molecular modeling.
• Hands-on DL development, training and validation using transformers, equivariant NN, or diffusion models.
• Experience with structure prediction/co-folding (AlphaFold2/3, RoseTTAFold, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in Python with PyTorch and/or JAX.
• Strong scientific writing and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and iterate deep learning models across the molecular modeling stack.
• Build benchmarking pipelines linking offline metrics to real-world performance.
• Integrate validated models into production-ready workflows.
• Apply computational methods to structural/sequence datasets to guide model development.
• Use generative AI and predictive ML to design and prioritize chemical matter.
• Communicate results via talks, technical write-ups, and peer-reviewed publications.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, structural biologists, and software engineers to prototype/scale solutions.
