SteelCon Inc. is hiring a full-time Structural Welder - Ironworker in Brighton, CO. The role requires operating cutting torches, welding (GMAW/FCAW), and coordinating with cranes and hoists to assemble structural components.

You will read shop drawings, follow blueprints, and maintain safety and quality on all projects, with standard hours from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, plus possible overtime and weekends. Benefits include PTO, health, dental, vision, 401(k), and company events.

Qualifications

• Maintain AWS certification on a 1-inch plate using GMAW and FCAW.
• Operate a cutting torch safely and effectively.
• Read shop drawings, cutting lists, and shop orders.
• Perform basic math calculations and measurements.
• Follow safety policies and maintain accountability.
• Pass required welding and fit tests as part of the selection process.

Responsabilités

• Support accurate, safe, compliant, and high-quality projects with minimal supervision.
• Follow blueprints and written instructions for installation and assembly.
• Operate presses, plate rolls, and press brakes as needed.
• Plan and fit metal components maintaining alignment tolerances.
• Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.
• Mark reference lines and set up assemblies within tolerances.
• Install foundations, doors, brackets, and related components.
• Tack weld panels and assemblies as required.
• Safely roll, bend, and shape plates, beams, and metal parts.
• Perform fitter duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

SCHEDULE:

Our Structural Welders - Ironworkers work from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Some weekends may be required. Overtime is also available.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

Required Abilities

• Maintain American Welding Society certification on a 1-inch plate in flat position using the gas metal arc welding and flux‑cored arc welding processes
• Adequately operate a cutting torch
• Adjust the welder to ensure proper feed rate and temperature
• Properly operate forklifts, jib hoists, and overhead cranes
• Learn and use hand signals for crane operation
• Read, understand, and follow cutting lists, shop orders, and shop drawings
• Perform general math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, etc.)
• Read, write, and follow semi‑complicated verbal and written instructions
• Communicate with managers and co‑workers
• Set priorities, meet goals, and work under periodic supervision
• Use a tape measure/ruler
• Follow safety policies and take accountability for your work
• Multitask

You must also be able to pass these skills‑based tests:

• Fillet weld break test using the gas metal arc welding process
• Basic welding test that covers shop drawing interpretation, weld symbols, welding processes, weld process symbol interpretation/application, and a visual acuity test
• Fitting test that covers shop drawing interpretation, fractional number calculations, basic geometry, etc.

WHAT YOUR DAY AS OUR STRUCTURAL WELDER - IRONWORKER IS LIKE:

• Working with minimal supervision to support accurate, safe, compliant, and high‑quality projects
• Accurately following blueprints and verbal/written instructions
• Properly operating machinery like presses, plate rolls, and press brakes
• Accurately planning, laying out, and fitting metal components while maintaining alignment tolerances
• Aligning metal parts using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls
• Marking reference lines, including center, buttock, and frame lines
• Setting, fitting, and erecting assemblies and modules within alignment tolerances
• Installing structural foundations, doors, hatches, brackets, clips, and more
• Tack welding panels and assemblies as needed
• Safely rolling, bending, and shaping plates, beams, and other metal parts
• Performing fitter duties and other responsibilities as assigned
