Job summary

Enerflex Ltd. is seeking a Fabrication/Welding Technician to execute fabrication projects per Welding Procedure Specifications and test requirements. The role emphasizes safety, quality, cost control, and teamwork in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities include blueprint interpretation, setup, welding of brackets/structs, operation of torches, and participation in process improvements while maintaining strong customer satisfaction and compliance with safety rules.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma and welding training.
• Experience with welding procedures and safety rules is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and weld to spec.

Responsibilities

• Execute fabrication projects following Welding Procedure Specifications and parameters.
• Pass required tests (3G vessel/tower or 6G pipe) and NDE as applicable.
• Weld brackets and braces; set up jig fixtures and holding fixtures.
• Operate flame and plasma cutting torches; use grinders.
• Read and interpret blueprints; position pieces for welding.
• Operate basic cutting equipment and welding tools as needed.
• Promote safety, quality, cost control and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with team to improve department processes.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job description

This position is responsible for executing fabrication projects in accordance with welding procedures. The successful individual will have the necessary qualifications with a continual focus on safety, quality, cost control and customer satisfaction when performing the duties of the position. You have a strong focus on safety, be a team player and have a strong work ethic.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

• Uses metal core mig, tig, fluxcore or stick welding process (must pass two or more)
• Ability to pass applicable test(s) and applicable Non-Destructive Exam
• May weld brackets and braces and use grinders. May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. May perform position welds on code materials.
• Proficient in flame and plasma cutting torches.
• Must have some experience reading and understanding blueprints.
• Must be able to operate basic cutting equipment.
• Promotes and supports safety, production, and positive attitude. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
• Requires employee to rarely type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
• Requires operation of heavy equipment such as welding tools on a constant frequency and forklift on an occasional frequency
• Able to weld according to Welding Procedure Specification and its parameter requirements.

Qualifications

Preferred Education

• High School Diploma
• Welding School

Required Experience & Skills

• Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural and vessel materials
• Must pass a 3G test for vessel/tower or 6G test pipe
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience

Preferred Training & Certifications

• Certification to weld on pipe or plate

Physical Requirements

• Requires employee to stand for at least 90% of the time
• Requires employee to sit for at least 10% of the time
• Requires employee to occasionally inspect equipment, climb stairs or ladders and must be able to maintain balance on stairs or ladders without assistance.
• Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Requires work in outdoor conditions, including all weather conditions & unairconditioned facility
• Requires work on loud environment
• Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions, stoop, kneel, crouch to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
• Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, helmets, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, as applicable.
• Position rarely requires travel
• Position rarely employee drive
