Job summary

Zalk Josephs Fabricators in Stoughton, WI is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to join our on-site production team. You will position, fit-up, weld, and inspect components per shop drawings and AWS standards, supporting safety and quality in a busy shop.

Responsibilities include reading BOMs, operating torches, grinders and cranes, and working with team to meet schedules. Overtime may be required; we offer a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• AWS 2G flux core test required.
• Experience with multi-pass flux core welding.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Stand/walk/bend/kneel/reach throughout shift.
• Read and interpret BOMs and drawings.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes and AWS D1.1.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Position, fit-up, layout, cut, and weld materials according to shop drawings and specifications
• Interpret and apply AWS welding symbols and fabrication standards
• Read and understand Bills of Material (BOMs) to identify required materials and components
• Perform detailed quality inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards
• Safely operate fabrication tools and equipment including torches, grinders, air arc equipment, and overhead cranes
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and quality standards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to pass an AWS 2G flux core multi-pass weld test on a one-inch plate
• Experience with multi-pass flux core wire feed welding
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing throughout the workday
• Skilled in the use of hand tools and measuring equipment
• Strong attention to detail, quality, and workplace safety
• Willingness to work mandatory weekday overtime and voluntary Saturday overtime as needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One (1+) year of welding and/or fabrication experience
• Experience in structural steel or heavy manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with fabrication prints, fit-up, and structural welding processes
