Job summary

Kiewit in the United States is seeking an intermediate welder responsible for planning, laying out, welding, installing, and repairing structural steel in accordance with plans, specs and codes. You will perform welding with GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW and read fabrication drawings to ensure proper fit and finish.

Must be able to work outdoors, at heights (potentially >200 ft), overtime, nights, and weekends; safety and project rules must be followed at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.

Job description

Position Summary

Plan, lay-out, weld, install, and repair all types of structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes and industry standards.

Experience Level

Intermediate

Primary Responsibilities And Duties

• Perform welding on various materials at required position using different welding processes, including, but not limited to, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW.
• Lay out, position, fit and weld various structural components, including flanges, piping supports, structural plates, beams, etc., in accordance with the supplied piping/structural fabrication drawings.
• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
• Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed and be capable of handling compressed gas and oxygen cylinders safely.
• Operate air arc gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.

• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
