Job summary

Kiewit Corporation is seeking a skilled welder to join our team in Ingleside, TX. The role involves welding structural steel in accordance with drawings, specifications, and welding codes, along with layout, fit-up, and inspection tasks to maintain quality and safety on site.

Candidates should have experience with multiple welding processes, read blueprints, and work outdoors in varying weather. Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required based on workload.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior field experience helpful.
• Ability to read and follow plans and instructions.
• Communicate effectively with supervision and management.
• Safe use of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on various materials using GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW.
• Lay out, position, fit and weld structural components per drawings.
• Set up and troubleshoot welding machines per specs and procedures.
• Adjust valves, gauges, and flames; handle compressed gas safely.
• Operate gouger, grinder and other workshop equipment.

Job description

Plan, lay-out, weld, install, and repair all types of structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform welding on various materials at required position using different welding processes, including, but not limited to, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW.
• Lay out, position, fit and weld various structural components, including flanges, piping supports, structural plates, beams, etc., in accordance with the supplied piping/structural fabrication drawings.
• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
• Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed and be capable of handling compressed gas and oxygen cylinders safely.
• Operate air arc gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
