Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a welder to join our field crew. You will MIG and Stick weld structural components, read blueprints, and work with the erection team to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Candidates must pass weld tests, be 18+, lift 50 pounds, and endure hot/cold weather while wearing safety gear. 40+ hours per week, possible weekend work; background check and drug screen may apply. We offer medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and career development.

Qualifications

• Must pass weld tests (varies per site).
• Must be willing to work outside craft.
• Readers must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Must be able to utilize basic math and read a tape measure or rule.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Position Description

Weld metal structural steel components together to fabricate and or install metal structures or supports according to customer specifications or blueprints utilizing MIG or Stick welding techniques.

• Position and clamp together components prior to welding.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment used in welding.

• Workers are surrounded by hot materials and strong light.
• Must wear safety gear, including protective goggles, masks, face shields and safety shoes.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Must be able to utilize basic math and read a tape measure or rule.
• May be required to work outside and be subject to severe weather as well.

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively.
• Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
• 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
