As a Sheet Metal Technician, you will play a critical role in the maintenance, repair, and modification of aircraft structures. You will work hands-on with sheet metal components on military C-130 aircraft, performing structural repairs, installations, and modifications in compliance with engineering drawings, technical manuals, and regulatory standards. This position supports high-profile aviation programs focused on enhancing aircraft capabilities for military, government, or special operations missions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform structural repairs, replacements, and modifications on aircraft skin, frames, bulkheads, and other sheet metal components.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical data to fabricate and install sheet metal parts.
- Use various hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment to shape, form, and install sheet metal.
- Conduct corrosion inspections and perform corrosion control processes according to maintenance standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure all modifications meet design and regulatory requirements.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and quality control protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including repair records and material usage.
- Support aircraft inspections, including C and D checks, as needed.
- Lift and maneuver sheet metal components and assemblies safely (lifting unassisted up to 50 lbs or more).
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in aircraft sheet metal maintenance, preferably with heavy or wide-body aircraft.
- Familiarity with aviation structural repair techniques and materials (aluminum, composites, titanium, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Proficient with sheet metal hand tools and power tools (riveting tools, grinders, shears, brakes, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment 10-year Criminal Background Check, standard FAA DOT drug test, and basic health physical.
- Reliable personal transportation/vehicle required.
