Job summary

Qualdoc in Richmond, VA is seeking a Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector for a contract-to-hire role on 1st shift. The position starts at $31.00/hr with a $3.00/hr differential and overtime on Saturdays.

You will verify fabrication against drawings, specs and industry standards in an AISC-certified facility, inspect throughout production, document nonconformances per AWS D1.1/D1.5, and assist with audits and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and construction drawings.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and quality standards.
• Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fabricated structural steel throughout the production process.
• Identify and document nonconformances in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
• Verify materials, dimensions, layouts, and part placement against shop drawings and specifications.
• Complete in-process and final quality inspections.
• Assist with annual AISC quality control audits.
• Work with production teams to investigate and correct quality issues.
• Support quality improvement efforts and maintain fabrication standards.
