Pennoni has an immediate opening for Structural Steel Inspectors to provide field inspection during bridge rehabilitation in Charleston, WV. The role involves inspecting field repairs and coatings on superstructure components and coordinating with project teams.

Responsibilities include verifying welds and coatings per WPS/PQRs, monitoring activities, and documenting NDT results. Travel and field work are expected.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of structural steel inspection experience in field environments.
• Experience inspecting welding, coatings, and field repairs.
• Knowledge of AASHTO/AWS D1.5 and related specs.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel welding and coatings.

Job Description

Pennoni has an immediate opening for structural steel Inspectors to provide field inspection during the
rehabilitation of a bridge in Charleston WV. This position involves inspection of field repairs and coating
of superstructure components.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform inspection of structural steel welding, and coatings
• Verify compliance with drawings, WPS/PQRs, and welder certifications
• Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards, including AASHTO/AWS D1.5 and WestVirginia Depart of Transportation specifications
• Monitor welding, bolting, and coating
• Witness and document NDT activities
• Identify and report non-conformances
• Prepare detailed daily reports
• Coordinate with field representatives, contractors, and project teams
• Provide updates to clients, and internal project teams

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 4-7 years structural steel inspection experience
• Experience working in the field environments
• Ability to work from manlifts and elevated access platforms.
• Knowledge of AASHTO/AWS D1.5 requirements
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Work Environment:

Work is primarily in the field, accessing the structure from manlifts and elevated platforms. Overtime
or weekend work may be required. Travel reimbursement is generally in accordance with GSA
guidelines or contract requirements.
