Job summary

Capital Professional Staffing LLC is seeking experienced Structural Steel Fitters for a growing structural steel and industrial fabrication operation in Tyler, TX. You will read shop drawings, lay out, fit, and fabricate steel assemblies to precise tolerances, working closely with welders and CNC operators.

Qualifications

• Structural steel or heavy metal fabrication shop experience required.
• Ability to independently read and work from structural steel shop drawings.
• Strong layout, measurement, and fit-up skills.
• Knowledge of structural steel shapes, plate, connections, and fabricated assemblies.
• Ability to read weld symbols.
• Tack welding and general welding ability preferred.
• Must understand fabrication tolerances and quality requirements.
• Must be comfortable working around heavy steel and fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural steel shop and fabrication drawings provided in PDF format.
• Fabricate and fit structural steel assemblies according to drawings and specifications.
• Lay out components and accurately locate plates, stiffeners, clips, connections, holes, and other fabricated parts.
• Fit beams, columns, channels, angles, plate, and other structural steel components.
• Measure, mark, cut, position, align, and fit steel components.
• Perform tack welding as required during fit-up.
• Verify dimensions, squareness, alignment, and tolerances before final welding.
• Read weld symbols and understand fabrication requirements.
• Use tape measures, squares, levels, layout tools, grinders, cutting equipment, and other common fabrication tools.
• Identify drawing or fit-up problems before assemblies move further into production.
• Work closely with welders, CNC operators, and other fabrication personnel.
• Inspect completed fit-up for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain productivity while producing accurate work in a high-volume fabrication environment.
• Follow all shop safety and quality procedures.

Capital Professional Staffing is recruiting for experienced Structural Steel Fitters for a growing structural steel and industrial fabrication operation in Tyler, Texas.

These positions require previous structural steel or metal fabrication shop experience. Fitters must be able to read structural steel shop drawings and use those drawings to lay out, fit, and fabricate steel assemblies accurately.

The facility has new, state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and substantial production work underway.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and interpret structural steel shop and fabrication drawings provided in PDF format

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

• Currently operating 7 days per week with substantial overtime to start out with


• $35-$40 per hour based on experience and qualifications


• Overtime paid in addition to base hourly rate
