Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Structural Steel Field Surveyor to support projects across the Mid-Atlantic region, primarily in Maryland or Virginia. The role focuses on field layout, measurements, and verification of steel positioning alongside erection crews in active construction environments.

You will perform field measurements, establish control lines, and update as-built drawings while coordinating with other trades to ensure plumbness and structural accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of structural steel erection or field surveying experience.
• Experience with slopes, grades, and layout for structural and miscellaneous metals.
• Proficiency with a total station or similar surveying equipment.
• Working knowledge of AISC standards for building alignment and orientation.
• Willingness to travel regularly to job sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
• Comfortable working at heights, including aerial lifts and elevated steel floors.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and ability to work with onsite crews and other trades.

Responsibilities

Starting Pay: $30.00/hour - higher pay available based on experience

Position Overview
