Qualdoc is seeking a Structural Steel Field Surveyor to support projects across the Mid-Atlantic region, primarily in the field. You will perform site surveys, verify measurements and elevations, and ensure accurate placement of steel components.

The role requires regular travel to active construction sites, working at heights, and coordinating with crane crews and other trades. A strong eye for detail and proficiency with Trimble, Bluebeam, CAD, and Office tools is essential.

Competenze

• At least 3 years of field surveying or structural steel erection experience.
• Experience surveying slopes, grades, and layouts for structural and miscellaneous metals.
• Proficiency with a total station or surveying equipment.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
• Ability to work at heights, including on aerial lifts and elevated steel floors.

Structural Steel Field Surveyor

Location: Maryland or Virginia
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Starting Pay: $30/hour; higher depending on experience

Position Overview

We are looking for a Field Surveyor to support structural steel construction and installation projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This position involves surveying job sites, verifying measurements and elevations, and ensuring steel components are positioned and aligned correctly.

This is primarily a field-based role requiring regular travel to active construction sites and the ability to work safely at heights.

• Collect and verify field measurements using surveying instruments.
• Establish building control lines, column locations, and anchor rod positions.
• Check elevations and embed alignment, and prepare as-built drawings.
• Verify steel placement and alignment during erection.
• Coordinate with other trades to maintain proper structural positioning and plumbness.

Qualifications

• Understanding of AISC standards related to building alignment and orientation.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
• Ability to work at heights, including on aerial lifts and elevated steel floors.
• Strong attention to detail, measurement accuracy, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with construction crews and other trades.
