Job summary

Walker Consultants is seeking a Restoration Engineer/Consultant in Pittsburgh, PA. You will lead investigations and provide restoration, building repair consulting while managing your own projects and client relationships.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in forensic engineering or related fields, a Bachelor’s in Civil/Architectural Engineering or Architecture, and strong communication skills. Occasional travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or similar.
  • Professional license in architecture or structural engineering preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience in forensic engineering, structural restoration, building repair, or related consulting fields.
  • Strong writing, communication, and team skills.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations, surveys and testing to diagnose building deficiencies causing damage.
  • Critically analyze plans, specifications, and calculations prepared by others.
  • Assist with developing project proposals and reviewing agreements.
  • Participate in quality control processes.
  • Monitor progress of projects, adherence to project requirements, and budget tracking.
  • Perform or review condition appraisals, develop repair schemes, and provide recommendations.
  • Complete and maintain all project documentation in project management software.
  • Manage multiple projects.
  • Maintain, market, and promote restoration and forensic engineering services to clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Restoration Engineer/Consultant

Location: Pittsburgh, PA. Job Type: Full-Time.

In this role, you will provide forensic engineering, restoration, and building repair consulting services while managing your own projects and client relationships. You will lead investigations, analyze structural and waterproofing deficiencies, and develop repair recommendations for a variety of structures, including high-rises, historical buildings, parking structures, plazas, tunnels, and bridges. You will be involved throughout all phases of a project, including forensic investigations, condition assessments, repair design, budgeting, and construction administration.

Qualified candidates will have experience in forensic engineering, structural restoration, building repair, or related consulting fields, along with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, self‑directed, collaborative, and able to build relationships with clients and project teams.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform investigations, surveys, and testing of existing buildings to identify and diagnose deficiencies contributing to damage or deterioration.
  • Critically analyze plans, specifications, and calculations prepared by others.
