Job summary

Meridia Recruitment Solutions, a KBRS Company, seeks a Structural Project Manager to lead design and construction phases and own project financial performance. You will guide direct reports, coordinate with design teams, and ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural major) from a four-year college or university.
  • 8–10 years of direct structural engineering experience, preferably in a consulting engineering firm.
  • Project management and leadership experience required.

  • Coordinate with drafters and designers to facilitate production of drawings.
  • Prepare construction documents, cost estimates, and billings.
  • Coordinate field measurements, data collection, and site observations.
  • Foster client relationships and participate in RFQ responses.

Job description

The primary responsibility of the Structural Project Manager is to provide leadership and direction to direct reports, coordinate projects throughout the design and construction phases along with take ownership of the financial performance of projects. In this position, the employee will perform technical activities, including but not limited to, designing, and analyzing building structures, communicating the design with structural drawings, and performing construction administration tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage structural projects and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and of a high technical quality; demonstrate a desire to advance technical and project management knowledge and skills.
  • Schedule and assign projects in a manner that facilitates effective and efficient execution.
  • Communicate with drafters and designers to facilitate production of drawings.
  • Generate creative solutions; translate concepts and information into design documents; use feedback to modify and apply design principles and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. Maintain high quality and uniform standards.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and specifications.
  • Prepare and ensure billings, percent completes, projections and related endeavors are executed timely.
  • Participate in the production and/or review of construction documents including but not limited to drawings, submittals, geotechnical reports, and proposals to ensure accuracy and conformance with design.
  • Coordinate and conduct field measurements, data collection, field reports, field observation and/or site inspections.
  • Follow up with field observation reports and visit construction sites. Attend design coordination meetings with team members/client representatives along with strategic meetings with Executive VP and President.
  • Coordinate and communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally internally with team members and other disciplines along with external consultants, engineers, architects, contractors, clients, and owners.
  • Responsible for employee and team development by identifying and providing opportunities for training and mentoring.
  • Partner with Marketing and Business Development in responding to RFQ’s, including interviews, resumes, and presentations along with developing client relationships.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural major) from four-year college or university with eight to ten years of direct structural engineering experience, preferably in a consulting engineering firm; project management and leadership experience required.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) license; must have a valid driver's license with the ability to complete required OSHA training.
