Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Project Engineer in our Structural Practice to own complex design challenges, guide junior engineers, and shape the delivery of innovative structural solutions. You’ll collaborate across disciplines and step into client-facing opportunities to grow into future project leadership.

The compensation for this role ranges from $92,000 to $120,000 annually, reflecting California pay transparency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• PE and/or SE licensure preferred.
• 4+ years of structural engineering experience with proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, StructurePoint, and Revit; experience designing steel, concrete, and timber systems.
• Ability to solve complex problems with confidence, balancing priorities, and adapting designs effectively.
• Strong communication and emerging leadership skills, with a commitment to mentoring junior staff and building your professional presence.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis, design, and detailing tasks with strong engineering judgment.
• Ensure quality of deliverables by organizing information clearly, reviewing junior staff’s work, and tailoring outputs to project scope and contractor needs.
• Coordinate with architects and engineers, taking increased responsibility for day-to-day technical decisions.
• Mentor junior team members through effective delegation and feedback.
• Grow leadership skills by assisting with project management activities, contributing to proposals, and engaging in client-facing opportunities.
