Job summary

Valmont seeks a Project Engineer in the Chattanooga/Jasper, TN area to lead structural analysis and design of utility products for quotes and orders. You will guide drafting, support sales, and make technical decisions on large projects while traveling up to 10% as needed.

This is an independent contributor role requiring strong judgment and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. PE certification and experience in transmission/industrial structures are a plus; on-site work is required when

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering with four years of related experience
• One year of experience in a professional service or manufacturing setting
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, PLS, CADD, PLS Pole, RISA or similar
• High level of organization for records and calculations
• Ability to support project needs for each project vs replication for speed of fabrication

Responsibilities

• Independently analyze and design products by Finite Element Method and other structural design software
• Interpret customer specifications and needs
• Communicate engineering data to customers and others, including cost-related requirements
• Direct drafting group to ensure proper detailing and smooth order processing
• Recommend changes in design criteria and procedures and develop new methods

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
