Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Practice. You will coordinate design work with in‑house staff and other design professionals, communicate with clients to define project requirements, and plan teams according to project needs.

You will perform analysis and design of structural systems for diverse buildings, manage deliverables, and travel within the US and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design work with in-house staff and other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
  • Manage project design and deliverables.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Practice. Candidates for the Structural Engineer position should have experience in small to mid-size projects such as cultural buildings, office buildings, health care, research facility design, and tenant renovation work, preferably in a consulting engineering firm environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
  • Manage project design and deliverables.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of current industry software, including SAP2000, ETABS, Ram, Risa3-D, StructurePoint, Revit, and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of parametric modeling tools (e.g., Grasshopper) is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
