Position Summary / What You’ll Do

As Structural Program Lead, you will define and execute the strategy for RETTEW’s Structural program—driving technical excellence, business development, and client satisfaction while mentoring a talented team of engineers and designers.

Responsibilities
Day-to-Day
  • Set direction and priorities for the Structural team, including quality standards, best practices, and efficiency.
  • Oversee portfolios of structural work to ensure consistency, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead business development: identify opportunities, prepare technical proposals, and maintain client/agency relationships.
  • Manage staffing and resource allocation, balancing workloads and supporting hiring, training, and mentoring.
  • Serve as final technical reviewer on deliverables to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Promote innovation in structural engineering by staying current with materials, methods, and new software tools.
  • Collaborate with other practice leads (roadway, traffic, utilities, etc.) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide budget oversight and strategic forecasting for program needs (equipment, tools, staffing).
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 15+ years of structural engineering experience in infrastructure/transportation.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proven leadership in program or team management.
  • Strong technical credentials (bridges, retaining walls, structural systems).
  • Demonstrated ability in client management and business development.
  • Track record of mentoring and building effective teams.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity and scale.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Familiarity with advanced analysis/design software, construction methods, and agency review processes.
