Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an engineering student Structural intern to join our Power & Industry team, gaining hands-on experience in structural engineering on diverse power and industrial projects.

This temporary, full-time internship runs 40 hours per week for 3 months, with potential extension. You will assist engineers and project managers with day-to-day tasks, prepare drawings in AutoCAD, and contribute to design calculations, reports, and client proposals.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a program to receive a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, preferably structural engineer or civil engineering, is required.
• Must have good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with drafting programs, particularly AutoCAD and Revitispreferred.
• Willingness to learn new programs and skills in Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery.
• Preparation of Specification Packages.
• Preparation of Structural Drawings using AutoCAD.
• Preparation of structural design and analysis calculations and models.
• Preparation of Structural design and analysis written reports.
• Coordination and development of client proposals and estimates.
• Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power & Industry Projects.
• Must demonstrate attention to detail
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
• Direction Received: Works under lead engineers and project managers to complete day-to-day tasks.
• Possible travel to local project sites (5%).

GAI is seeking an engineering student Structural intern to join our Power & Industry team, to gain relevant skills and experience in Structural Engineering working on various power and industrial engineering projects. Required skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems. This is a temporary full-time position at 40 hours a week and a 3-month duration. Additional schedules will be considered.

As a GAI Student Engineering Intern, this position is responsible for assisting a team of engineers and project managers with structural designs. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Experience

• This is an entry-level position with no experience required.
• The successful candidate should be enrolled in a structural or civil engineering program at a Junior or Senior level.

Education And Training

• Enrolled in a program to receive a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, preferably structural engineer or civil engineering, is required.
• Must have good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with drafting programs, particularly AutoCAD and Revitispreferred.
• Willingness to learn new programs and skills in Structural Engineering.

Communication Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and other business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff members.

Mathematical Skills

• Required mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.g., engineering calculations, design, etc.)

Computer Skills

• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of basic computer systems and software packages. Must be willing to learn software that is specific to Structural Engineering Industry.
