Job summary

Galvan Industries is seeking a dependable Fitter to join our steel fabrication team. The role involves laying out, fitting, aligning, and preparing structural steel components for welding and final fabrication in a fast-paced heavy industrial shop.

You will read fabrication drawings and weld symbols, verify tolerances, and work closely with welders and shop leadership to keep production moving while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years of structural steel fitting or fabrication experience.
• Reads and interprets fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
• Uses tape measures, squares, levels, and layout tools accurately.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and shop prints.
• Lay out, measure, and fit structural steel components according to specifications.
• Assemble and tack weld parts for final welding operations.
• Verify dimensions, squareness, alignment, and tolerances before weld-out.
• Maintain workflow to support production schedules and minimize delays.
• Coordinate with welders and shop personnel to ensure efficient job flow.
