Job summary

RDR Utility Services Group is seeking a skilled welder for our Piping and Mechanical Fabrication shop. The Welder will work from drawings to assemble parts and structures with precision, reporting to the shop supervisor in a busy fabrication environment.

The role requires MIG welding experience (TIG a plus), the ability to read technical drawings, and safe operation of welding equipment. Certification like AWS is a plus, with potential CNC exposure in a supportive team setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of welder experience.
• MIG welding is required; TIG experience is a plus.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Professional AWS welding certification is a plus.
• Experience with CNC equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings; take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Select appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Operate welding tools to weld components in various positions.
• Repair machinery by welding and filling gaps.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces for flaws.
• Maintain welding equipment for safety.
• Produce templates and other work aids.

Job description

At RDR Utility Services Group, we have a strong focus on growth and recruitment and employ only the best local talent within our region.

RDR is seeking a welder to add to our Piping and Mechanical Fabrication shop division.The Welder will report directly to the shop supervisor in a busy fabrication shop. This individual will work from drawings or actual examples to assemble new or replacement parts and mechanical structures with a great deal of precision.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read blueprints and drawings, as well as take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements.)
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Align components using calipers, rulers, etc. and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Produce templates and other work aids.

Education/Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a welder: 3 years+.
• Experience with MIG welding is required. TIG welding experience is a plus.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, cutting torches, shears, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing. (Face shield, gloves, etc.)
  
• Professional Certification (E.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus.
• Experience with CNC equipment and machines is a plus.
