M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

We are seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer to support WMATA’s ongoing infrastructure improvement and maintenance initiatives. The selected candidate will contribute to the design, review, and oversight of structural systems across the transit network, including bridges, stations, and support facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design using applicable codes and WMATA standards.
• Review construction documents, shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals.
• Collaborate with WMATA engineers, project managers, and field personnel to ensure design intent and construction quality.
• Support the development of technical specifications and cost estimates.
• Participate in field visits to assess existing conditions and support construction oversight.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• PE license required for senior-level roles; EIT acceptable for junior-level.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design and construction support.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, AREMA, and WMATA design standards is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  
  

Salary Range

• Junior (5+ years, EIT): $54–$66/hr
• Senior (15+ years, PE): $103.50–$126.50/hr
