Duties / Responsibilities
- Provide professional structural engineering and construction management support, serving as the general engineer providing technical leadership and guidance for contractor‑executed construction projects.
- Act as the organizational subject matter expert on national standards and practices for structural engineering designs, foundation analysis for horizontal and vertical construction, and material selection for buildings, roads, bridges, dams, and other structures.
- Participate in design reviews and provide comments on contractor‑submitted structural engineering designs and plans.
- Provide quality assurance oversight, documenting such oversight and recommending corrective actions to ensure high‑quality performance by contractors.
- Provide safety oversight, documenting oversight and directing corrective actions to ensure worker and public safety.
- Assist in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor structural engineering requirements and deliverables, documenting and providing reports on contractor progress.
- Recommend authorization of progress payments based on observed contract progress.
Education / Experience
- Current Professional Engineer license within the State of Florida.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a structural engineer on large, complex, multimillion‑dollar federal construction projects, preferably Department of Defense.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Demonstrated experience working on coastal projects and high wind loads.
- Experience with Resident Management System (RMS) and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with federal facilities, including administrative buildings, airfield facilities, and multi‑use facilities.
